    Rising costs, reduced revenue and a shortage of skilled workers are challenging small- and medium-size manufacturers in the Houston-Gulf Coast region and beyond. To tackle the issues, Houston Community College (HCC) has teamed up with the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) to present the Houston Manufacturing Business Symposium to share funding and resources available to help remove the barriers impacting manufacturers.

    The petrochemical industry must rely on highly-trained personnel to keep production processes safe and to respond to incidents that can happen in the manufacturing environment. To prepare graduates for work in the industry, Houston Community College is participating in the North American Process Technology Alliance (NAPTA) Troubleshooting Skills Competition.

As unfilled jobs abound in our region, it is exciting to see colleges, industry, and government align to equip students with credentials of value, expand access to dual credit offerings, and promote work-based learning opportunities like apprenticeships and internships.
