Commencement 2019

HCC will hold two Graduation Ceremonies on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at NRG Stadium in Houston. The morning ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. and our afternoon ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. You may select your preferred ceremony time, participation for each ceremony will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

Associate Degree Recipients who meet the criteria below are eligible for Honor Cords, based on their GPA through Fall 2018 (spring grades will not be included for the ceremony but will be reflected on the final award). Students completing a Certificate of Completion do not receive honor cords.

  • Honors 3.35 – 3.59
  • High Honors 3.60 – 3.79,
  • Highest Honors 3.80 – 4.00.

 

NRG concession stands will be closed on May 11, 2019.

NRG does not allow outside food or drinks . Please plan accordingly.

Commencement Steps

Step 1: Meet with an Advisor

Schedule an appointment with the advisor listed in your student center, or stop by any campus to visit with an advisor on a first-come-first-served basis.

Step 2: Apply for graduation

Apply for graduation directly through your student center

Indicate whether you want a printed diploma and provide a diploma mailing address. You will receive a confirmation email with the ceremony registration link after February 22.


Step 3: Register for Commencement

Online registration to participate in the graduation ceremony is now closed. After you apply for graduation, you will receive an email with instructions on how to register.


 Step 4: Purchase Regalia

Visit any HCC Bookstore to purchase your regalia. 

The online ordering site is now open and includes all the information you need for ordering your cap and gown as well as your graduation announcements.  All orders placed at this site will ship directly to your home.  All HCC Bookstores should have graduation regalia in stock by March 26th if you would prefer to shop in the store. Regalia cost $49.98, plus tax. Please note that your financial aid award cannot be used to purchase regalia.


Step 5: Attend Ceremony

  • On Graduation Day, participating graduates need to arrive at 7:00 a.m. for the 9 a.m. ceremony and 11:30 am for the 1 p.m. ceremony. 
  • Park in the blue lot (Kirby Dr. at Westridge), the parking fee is $12. 
  • Upon arrival, proceed to student check-in, you will receive a preprinted registration card, please verify all information is correct.  Staff will assist you with seating arrangements in the staging area and answer any questions you may have.

TXCHSE Graduation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, 2019 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the HCC Central College auditorium.

Faculty Graduation Registration

Register for Graduation Ceremony

  1. Click on the registration link
  2. On the MarchingOrder website, click “log in”
  3. Go to “Returning Users and
  4. Email - Enter the preferred email address on file with Houston Community College in the "email" field. (Example: username@hccs.edu)
  5. Password - Enter your Houston Community College assigned employee ID number with an E in front of the "password" field. (Example:  E123456789)
  6. Select the ceremony you will attend (first-come, first served basis).
