HCC will hold two Commencement Ceremonies for the 2020-2021 school year.

  • The fall ceremony for summer & fall graduates will be held on December 11, 2020. Time to be announced.
  • The spring ceremony for spring graduates will be held in May 2021.

 

Associate Degree candidates who meet the criteria below are eligible for Honor Cords for the ceremony. Students completing a Certificate of Completion do not receive honor cords.

  • GPA used for the Fall ceremony is through Summer 2020 (fall grades will not be included for the ceremony but will be reflected on the final award)
  • GPA for the Spring ceremony is through Fall 2020 (spring grades will not be included for the ceremony but will be reflected on the final award)

 

Honor cords may be picked up at all HCC bookstores prior to graduation

  • Honors 3.35 – 3.59
  • High Honors 3.60 – 3.79
  • Highest Honors 3.80 – 4.00

Step 1: Contact your advisor

Schedule an online appointment with the advisor listed in your student center

Step 2: Apply for graduation by:

Fall Ceremony  - Nov 13
Spring Ceremony – April 15

Indicate whether you want a printed diploma and provide a diploma mailing address. 

Fall – October

Spring - February


Step 3: Register for Commencement

You will receive an email with your unique link ​to register to participate in the virtual ceremony.

(emails are sent every Monday and Thursdays)

Fall - 11:59 pm, Thursday, November 19, 2020

Spring - April


 Step 4: Purchase Regalia (Cap and Gown)

Regalia is also available at the Central Campus Bookstore

Step 5: Create Your Graduate Slide for Virtual Ceremony

On November 15, 2020, you will receive an email from StageClip with information to create your graduate slide. 

You will have the opportunity to upload your picture and select to use the SnapChat HCC regalia lens.

Your graduate slide will be available for you to download and share.

Step 6: Attend the Virtual Ceremony

General Information

Dress/Attire and Information for the ceremony

  • Please follow these dress code guidelines for the graduation ceremony:
  • The academic cap should be worn straight, and pulled down slightly on the forehead.
  • The tassel of the cap should be worn on the right first, and then changed to the left at the end of the ceremony
  • Suggested clothing to be worn under the gown:
    • Men - White shirt, dark tie, dark slacks, dark shoes, and dark socks. No sandals
    • Women - Lightweight fabric and dark shoes with low or medium heels. No sandals
  • Graduates should carry nothing in their hands. A copy of the program will be placed on each graduates chair.
  • For the safety and security of those attending the commencement, no bags will be permitted in the back staging area with students. This includes, but not limited to purses, backpacks, camera bags, and diaper bags.
  • Absolutely no smoking is allowed.
  • Balloons not allowed
  • All students attending commencement, including late registrants must purchase regalia by doing any of the following, visit any HCC Bookstore or purchase the morning of the ceremony.
  • On graduation day, participating graduates need to arrive by 11:00AM for the 1:00PM ceremony You will receive a preprinted registration card, please verify all information is correct. Staff will assist you with seating arrangements in the staging area and answer any questions you may have.
  • • As you prepare to line up to cross the stage, please be prompt in reaching the center of the stage, then proceed to exit off the stage. There will be staff to guide you during this process. Please be attentive and follow their instructions. It is important that you return to your seat after receiving your recognition and remain seated until the end of the ceremony.
