Guest Limits, Requirements & Details (Updated 11/16/22)

GUEST LIMIT & CHECK-IN

*Please view the November 16 update below regarding the 4-guest ticket limit.

After the deadline to register for commencement has passed, the graduation committee reviewed the record number of registrants with the venue, Reliant Arena. Due to a significant uptick in commencement registration, the committee, unfortunately, has to implement a 4-guest limit for each student.

Up until November 16, we communicated that there would not be a limit for the number of guests. We know that having to set a limit will disappoint graduates and their loved ones. Ideally, we would afford students the opportunity to have all of their loved ones present to commemorate such an important and memorable milestone. However, commencement ceremonies involving over 3,000 approved graduates and their guests are a major production and require that planning begins at the start of each semester (August and January). As such, the ability to adjust capacity is significantly limited and no additional guest tickets can be assigned.

Students are encouraged to consistently check their HCC student email and this webpage for updates and next steps.

Guest Limit

  • Graduates will be able to invite up to four guests to the commencement ceremony.
  • Unfortunately, no additional guest tickets are available.
  • All guest commencement tickets are complimentary. Please be wary of any "extra" tickets being sold at a price.

Who Needs a Ticket

  • Children above the age of 2 are required to have a guest ticket.
  • Graduates do not need a ticket. Your GradPass will grant them entry to the ceremony.

Two Options for Graduates to Distribute Guests' Tickets

  • To distribute guest tickets, you may login to MarchingOrder anytime.
  • Each student will be automatically assigned 4 guest tickets within MarchingOrder.
  • You may choose to download the guest tickets in MarchingOrder and send to your guests directly.
  • You also have the option to have MarchingOrder email tickets directly to guests. If you select this option, only the guests receive an email (not you). Please write down who you send the ticket to, as the system will not keep a record of it.

Guest Check-In

  • Guests will be admitted to the venue no earlier than 9:00 am (one hour before the ceremony).
  • Each guest ticket has a unique QR code which will be scanned upon entry to NRG. Upon arrival, each guest will be required to either show a printed ticket or display the guest ticket on their mobile phone.
  • The ticket can only be used once and cannot be duplicated.
  • Guests can scan out, if they left something in the car and then have it scanned in again.

Option to Watch Livestream
Please know that all commencement ceremonies are broadcasted live and there will be an option to replay it. Closer to day of the event, the link to watch the livestream will be shared on this webpage.
