A message from the Chancellor
Welcome to HCC’s Strategic Planning Process. We invite you to visit this page often as we update information on how we at Houston Community College can position ourselves for the future. Thank you for your supporting Houston's Community College.
Hello Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, the Faculty, Students, Staff, and our many fantastic community and business partners, I welcome you to the Strategic Planning Process for our great institution’s next 10-year strategic plan. The plan that we are creating will be the road-map for how we move the Houston Community College forward in an era of unprecedented change, in a city of endless possibilities. This website will serve as your front row seat to all the action and thought we need to put into the plan’s creation over the next 18 months.
The theme we have chosen to guide this planning process is to consider the question “How will HCC embrace our city’s future”? This simple question begs us to consider a variety of things. First and foremost, what does Houston’s future look like? What kind of degrees, programs, certificates, and services will Houstonians look to us to provide? How can we magnify the many things that we do so well as an institution, and how can we improve things that we want to change? I urge you to really think through the answers to these questions as you fill out surveys and share your input with us for how we can accomplish these great things - together.
Nothing about HCC occurs in a vacuum. Everything that this college does, we do in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, the Faculty, and staff, and we do them for the benefit of our students, and our fellow Houstonians. To give you a sense of how vast the scope of this work is, click the link below to see details from my State of the College address.
Finally, please consider this a personal invitation from me, to help us design, create, and execute the 2020-2030 Strategic Plan. We want to hear from you, so please, fill out a survey. Or better yet, look through the calendar of events and join us in person for a planning session. In order for us to truly live up to our name, we must be Houston’s Community College, and to do that we want to hear from all of Houston.
With excitement for the future,
Cesar Maldonado, Ph.D., P.E.
