Section # 8 Inference

It is important that you watch the video first.

An inference is a reasonable conclusion based on evidence that has a common point of reference.

The strategy explained in this section is:
Visualize or see what is happening when you are reading so that you actually see the evidence you need in order to make a reasonable conclusion.

 

Practice 1:
Kendra and her boyfriend are talking to Kendra’s best friend, Jalisa. When Kendra’s back is turned, the boyfriend and Jalisa stare at each other and smile. When Kendra turns around, her boyfriend and Jalisa quickly look away from each other.

____a. Kendra’s boyfriend and Jalisa are attracted to each another.
____b. Kendra is aware of the attraction between her boyfriend and Jalisa.
____c. Kendra is unaware of the attraction between her boyfriend and Jalisa.

Paula’s legs were shaking as she walked down the long hallway after leaving the doctor’s office. Who will take care of my kids? Then, Paula remembered that her purse was still sitting next to the chair where she had been sitting in front of the doctor’s desk.
