HCC South Campus to host Green Opportunities Houston Career Fair

Apr 8, 2022

A first-of-its-kind, free, two-day career fair and exposition focused on green energy jobs, career training and education will take place at HCC Central South Campus on Friday and Saturday, April 22 and April 23.

Green Opportunities Houston will feature more than 300 job openings from dozens of employers, including the City of Houston, CenterPoint Energy – in a festival-like atmosphere with music, food and green energy activities. Registered guests will have a chance to win a laptop, tablet or virtual reality headset.

Positions are available for all skill levels for those 16 years old and up. Participants will be able to connect with hiring managers and company representatives, as well as get information about job readiness training and continuing education for green careers. Those who have criminal histories are welcome to attend.

Green Opportunities Houston is a collaborative effort of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, the Office of Complete Communities and Houston Community College Central. It was created as a result of the community-based planning process of the Complete Communities Action Plans, Resilient Houston and the Houston Climate Action Plan.

“Ensuring that all Houstonians have equal access to quality services and amenities requires across-sector approach,” says Mayor Turner. “By tapping the strengths of our community members, nonprofits, businesses and philanthropic partners, together, we can build a stronger and more resilient city.”

Green Opportunities Houston will use this career fair and expo to educate Houstonians about sustainability, green careers, entrepreneurship and funnel economic-recovery dollars to investments and policies that will lead to bold and transformative climate action and to the creation of decent, accessible, living-wage jobs.
