Apr 12, 2024

Houston Community College (HCC) is set to begin an international freight forwarding apprenticeship program with the Fracht Group, an international leader in the logistics sector as partner.

Expected to launch this summer, the program will address a growing demand for skilled professionals in the global freight forwarding sector where a need for individuals capable of navigating complex supply chains and international regulations has never been greater.

The program will offer aspiring professionals hands-on experience and knowledge of freight forwarding Fracht experts as mentors. Students will be paid $18 to $22 per hour while attending, learning from a curriculum blending theoretical knowledge with practical training. If students successfully complete the two-year program, Fracht will reimburse students for their tuition and fees and cover the cost of books.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to nurturing talent and driving innovation within the logistics industry," said Dr. Christina Robinson, executive director of Work-Based Learning and Industry Partnerships at HCC. “We are grateful the Fracht Group will contribute its expertise to the evolution of this new program."

Fracht Group is headquartered in Switzerland. The family-owned firm has decades of experience and expertise as an international freight forwarder and industry leader in providing comprehensive logistics solutions in more than 50 countries.

“We are excited to join forces with HCC to empower the next generation of logistics professionals,” said Yanet Joosten, vice president of Human Resources at Fracht Group. “This partnership underscores our commitment to helping to shape the future of the international freight forwarding profession.”
