Houston Community College today was once again designated a Leader College by Achieving the Dream (ATD), a national nonprofit dedicated to advancing community colleges as hubs of equity and mobility in their communities. The designation is for 2023.

“We are honored to retain our status as an ATD college,” said Cesar Maldonado, Ph.D., P.E. “Our dedicated faculty and staff are the driving force behind this honor as we continue to provide high-quality, affordable education to an incredibly diverse group of students across our region.”

Such Leader Colleges play an important role in accelerating the adoption of effective practices within the ATD network and across higher education, the organization said.

Colleges that who receive the distinction are recognized for the quality of their work in whole-college reform, resulting in increased completion rates for students. Recipients also develop innovative methods and work with other colleges to share knowledge and exchange ideas about how to implement evidence-based reforms.

HCC is part of the ATD network of more than 300 colleges committed to advancing equity and supporting student success.
