For the third year, Houston Community College (HCC) is set to host an annual conference to gather some of the nation’s greatest minds to explore the latest advancements in AI and the abundant academic and professional opportunities in the field.

The Gulf Coast Conference & Expo on Artificial Intelligence takes place April 11-12 at HCC West Houston Institute, 2811 Hayes Road in Houston. It runs from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day and includes panel discussions, interactive workshops, an AWS DeepRacer competition and student project lightning rounds.

Spearheaded by the HCC Digital and Information Technology Center of Excellence, the conference provides a platform for industry professionals, academic leaders and students to collaborate and discuss the ongoing impact and future of AI.

The conference will examine how academia and industry can join forces to continue to grow a local talent pipeline for responsible AI development and use for the prosperity of the Houston region, organizers said.

"With HCC being the first community college in Texas to offer an associate degree in Artificial Intelligence and its new bachelor’s degree in AI and Robotics, the AI/Computing field in Houston is poised to flourish for a broad range of local industries," said Chancellor Margaret Ford Fisher, Ed.D. "We're proud to be leading the way in hosting this important event."
