Alum Quang Minh Pham’s role as radiological technologist valued at MD Anderson by clinicians and patients
Feb 5, 2026
Quang Minh Pham’s professional path to become a radiologic technologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center began at Houston City College (HCC) Coleman College for Health Sciences.
An immigrant from Vietnam, Pham grew up in Pearland and decided to attend Coleman College with a clear eye toward entering the radiology field.
“I want to be part of a life-saving team,” he said. “Radiologic technologists are often first responders in healthcare when X-rays are needed to diagnose nearly everything.”
By serving patients and providing physicians with information they need to plan treatment, the role has allowed Pham “to make a difference in patient outcomes,” he explained.
He currently performs CT (Computed Tomography) specialized X-ray imaging to create detailed, high-quality images that clinicians use in making precise assessments of tumors and developing lifesaving patient treatment plans.
While studying at Coleman, Pham excelled. He graduated with a perfect grade point average and earned an Associate of Applied Science in Radiography while serving in student government Association and acting as a peer tutor. He also received a Texas Society of Radiologic Technologists Rising Star Award that honors students who demonstrate and show great professional promise.
At MD Anderson, Pham enjoys serving patients and credits HCC with providing strong academic preparation and a supportive learning environment that transferred well to the workplace.
“I loved my friends and the HCC faculty and clinical staff who were always helping and offering valuable advice,” he shared. “Those lessons stay with me.”
He has continued his advancement, earning American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification. His advice to current and future HCC students is simple.
“Cultivate a growth mindset and view challenges as opportunities for growth. Also, set clear goals, manage your time effectively and always stay motivated.”
