Six HCC Hispanic engineering students, along with engineering professor June Keller, attended the annual Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) national convention from Nov. 7-11 in Cleveland, Ohio.

The SHPE national convention is the largest event for Hispanic STEM students and professionals, and is an opportunity for leading corporations, government agencies, and other organizations to recruit top STEM talent. A large part of the convention is a career fair where more than 200 companies look to hire STEM graduates. Two HCC students were offered internships at Lockheed Martin and Delta.

He won the $500 prize for his research titled, "Hybrid Advanced Manufacturing Techniques for Single Grain Boundary Fabrication & Study." This was Chagolla's first public presentation.

The annual convention attracts more than 6,000 students, professionals and corporate representatives, and provides educational, technical, competitive and other development opportunities for STEM professionals and students.
