May 8, 2018

The Houston Community College Northeast College Interim President Destry Dokes and other HCC faculty and staff joined the community, elected officials, former North Forest board members and parents in celebrating the opening of the new HISD North Forest High School on Friday, May 4.

HISD board chair Rhonda Skillern-Jones, State Representative Senfronia Thompson and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee praised the community for their continued support and promised to continue fighting to bring resources and opportunities to the school and its students. Dokes echoed that commitment to principal Dr. Darryl Henson and offered enhanced support of the high school’s college-focused initiative that includes dual credit, pathways to workforce training as well as college readiness activities.

The high school’s facility and curriculum supports training that aligns with programs offered at HCC. The new career and technical training spaces support firefighter training, forensic sciences, agricultural science, and automotive technology. HCC Northeast has a longstanding relationship with the high school that spans more than 25 years.
