HCC Licensed Vocational Nursing Program accepting new students

Jan 18, 2018

Houston Community College is once again accepting new students into its Licensed Vocational Nursing Program at the HCC Coleman College for Health Sciences.

The LVN program is centered in the new Coleman Tower, a 10-story state-of-the-art building in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. The Coleman Tower is also home to multiple health-related HCC programs.

New students are being accepted into the LVN program after a one-semester hiatus.  The Texas Board of Nursing placed the program on conditional status for the fall 2017 semester. The board’s action did not affect LVN students already enrolled and active in the program.

Since then, HCC has moved aggressively to tighten admittance and graduation standards and has standardized testing for its vocational nursing students. As a result, passing rates on the National Council Licensure Examination have risen well above national standards to 95 per cent and the board has once again granted the program Full Approval Accreditation.
