The Real Estate Sales Agent Licensure program area is designed to meet the educational requirements set by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) for obtaining a sales agent license. The program provides comprehensive 30-hour courses in real estate principles and practices, preparing students to submit licensing documentation to TREC and pursue a career in real estate upon completion.

The Residential Construction Certificate program prepares students for careers in the construction industry by providing hands-on training in residential building fundamentals. Students learn blueprint interpretation, construction math, framing techniques for floors, walls, ceilings, and roofs, as well as worksite safety practices used in residential construction projects. The program is designed to develop the next generation of builders, contractors, and entrepreneurs while preparing students for entry-level employment opportunities in the construction field.

The two-year Respiratory Therapist (RSPT) program at Houston City College prepares students for entry-level careers in respiratory care. Respiratory Care Practitioners evaluate, treat, and manage patients of all ages with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders.

The Roustabout Drilling Technician (RigOne) Program prepares students for entry-level careers in the oil and gas drilling industry through technical instruction and hands-on training designed by drilling contractors. The program focuses on developing skilled, safety-conscious, and promotable rig crew members by teaching drilling operations, equipment handling, workplace safety, and industry best practices. Students gain the foundational knowledge and practical experience needed to support drilling operations and pursue career advancement opportunities within the energy sector.

The Sheet Metal Helper program provides students with an introduction to the materials, tools, and techniques used in the sheet metal industry. Students learn the types and uses of hand, layout, and cutting tools, along with bending and forming machines. The program covers various types of pipe and fittings, principles of soldering roof flashings, gutters, downspouts, and sheet metal duct fabrication. Students also learn principles and types of fittings for radial line development and factors that influence bend allowances and calculations necessary for determining proper bend allowances.

Prepare for high-demand careers designing, installing, and integrating the intelligent systems that power today's homes, businesses, hospitals, schools, and smart buildings. Gain hands-on experience with networking, structured cabling, security systems, access control, video surveillance, lighting controls, smart devices, and AI-enabled technologies.

The Solar Installer program area prepares students with technical skills and training in photovoltaic systems, residential installations, safety protocols, electrical knowledge, and industry codes. The program provides hands-on instruction designed to prepare students for the Electrical Technician Association International (ETA) Level 1 PV Installer certification.

Students in the Sterile Processing program combine classroom learning with hands-on training in Coleman College’s state of the art labs. Through clinical rotations at partnering healthcare institutions, students also gain real-world practical experience that builds confidence and career-ready skills. Graduates are well prepared to pursue certification and step directly into rewarding roles as sterile processing technicians in today’s healthcare workforce.

Students in the six-semester Surgical Technology Program at Houston City College attend lectures and gain hands-on experience in the lab at Coleman College for Health Sciences. The program begins each fall and prepares students with the practical skills needed for surgical technology training.

The Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) is a state-approved transfer degree that provides the first two years of coursework required for students pursuing Texas teacher certification. This program prepares future educators with foundational knowledge in teaching, learning, and child development and is designed for seamless transfer into a four-year bachelor’s degree leading to initial teacher certification.

The Telemetry Technician program prepares students to interpret heart rhythms and 12-lead EKGs within clinical settings such as hospitals, physician offices, and remote cardiac monitoring facilities. Students learn to monitor the heart’s electrical activity in ICU and telemetry environments while developing the skills needed to recognize and evaluate heart rhythms. Certificate completion requires students to demonstrate proficiency in rhythm recognition.

The TIG Welding program area prepares students with foundational skills in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), including equipment setup, safety procedures, joint design, and welding techniques for metals such as aluminum and stainless steel. Students gain hands-on training in welding inspection and operation of GTAW equipment while preparing for entry-level employment in the welding industry and advancement into Pipe Welding courses.

This program prepares students for a wide range of translator, interpreter, and localization specialist positions across corporate, nonprofit, medical, legal, and technical fields. Graduates gain the linguistic, cultural, and professional skills needed to provide accurate, high-quality translation and interpretation services. Students may also use their training to launch their own freelance business and work independently with clients in diverse industries.

The Translation Specialist program area prepares students to support clear, accurate, and culturally responsive communication across diverse audiences and professional settings. Students develop skills in translation, language interpretation, and cross-cultural communication while working with academic, institutional, and professional materials to preserve meaning, tone, and intent.

The Unmanned Aerial System (Drones) for Public Safety program area prepares students to plan and conduct unmanned flights in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) UAS regulations. Students gain foundational knowledge and flight operation skills while preparing for the Drone Pilot FAA Part 107 Certification.
