Sports and education came together at Shell Energy Stadium as Houston City College (HCC) partnered with Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash to host "From the Field to Your Future" on June 4, 2026.

HCC has surpassed 100,000 enrolled students, reaching its highest enrollment since 2019 and marking a major milestone in the college’s ongoing momentum, growth and student success.

HCC and Space Center Houston have joined forces to propel STEM education and strengthen workforce pathways for students across the Houston region. Leaders from both organizations formalized a new mission on Tuesday, June 9, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding at the HCC West Houston Institute. The partnership is designed to connect classroom learning with real-world industry experience and emerging careers in aerospace and related industries.

Thomas Eggleston Wooldridge never imagined someone like him, who grew up in the “middle-of-nowhere-country” in Lynchburg, Virginia, would one day leave the United States. He recalled that in high school, only one or two classmates expressed a desire to study abroad, something that felt impossible for him due to his family’s financial situation. Now living in Houston and attending HCC, the 32-year-old fashion design student is preparing for the biggest trip of his life to Paris, France.

Houston City College (HCC) announced the launch of Gulf Coast TradeUp Careers, a regional workforce transformation initiative supported by a $17 million investment from Bloomberg Philanthropies. The initiative is part of a new $90 million national effort from Bloomberg Philanthropies to change how high school students prepare for and enter Registered Apprenticeships and high-wage, family-sustaining careers in the skilled trades.
