Dynamo, Dash event showcases HCC opportunities and community

Sports and education came together at Shell Energy Stadium as Houston City College (HCC) partnered with Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash to host "From the Field to Your Future" on June 4, 2026.

The event provided students with an opportunity to connect with professional athletes, learn about career pathways and explore educational opportunities at HCC while sharing the excitement surrounding international soccer being in town.

Students were able to chat with professional soccer players who shared their personal journeys and emphasized the role education played in their success.

Dynamo goalkeeper Logan Erb encouraged students to pursue both their academic and personal goals. "Education, especially in my life, has been opening doors of opportunity," he said. He encouraged students to "find what you're passionate about and pursue it."

For HCC student Zindi Munguia, an avid soccer fan, attending the event reinforced HCC’s sense of caring. “I love the community at HCC," she said. "I honestly couldn't be where I'm at without my classmates and professors.”

HCC Trustee Monica Flores Richart noted the importance of HCC connecting with students to highlight the range of educational and career opportunities available at the college.

"We want to meet people where they are with information about the wonderful programs HCC has," she said. “This is a great way to do that.”
