The Intensive English program area helps college students and adult learners develop English language skills for work, academic studies in the United States, and Houston City College certificate programs. The program offers Intro, Level 1, and Level 2 instruction, preparing students to transition into ESOL Level 3 upon successful completion of Level 2.

The Department of Mathematics at Houston City College provides a strong learning environment for studying mathematics, serving approximately 70 majors and over 11,000 students each semester. The Music Program at Houston City College prepares students for seamless academic transfer to four-year universities to complete a bachelor’s degree in music. The curriculum builds a strong foundation in music theory, sight-singing and ear training, composition, and ensemble performance. Students also develop their skills through focused study in piano, voice, or instrumental concentrations.
