Houston City College (HCC) Chancellor Dr. Margaret Ford Fisher joined regional leaders on April 15, 2026, at Partnership Tower for the Greater Houston Partnership’s (GHP) Future of Healthcare program, a conversation focused on the evolving healthcare landscape and the growing need for a strong workforce pipeline in Houston.
The event brought together leaders from education, healthcare, and business to discuss how the region can respond to increasing demand for care, rapid innovation, and long-term workforce needs. In a conversation moderated by Dr. Esmail Porsa of Harris Health System, Dr. Ford Fisher represented Houston City College alongside Renu Khator, President and Chancellor of the University of Houston, and Dr. Andrew E. Moore, Chief Medical Officer for HCA Gulf Coast Division.
During the discussion, participants explored how educational institutions and employers can work together to strengthen workforce pathways, expand access to health careers, and support Houston’s long-term healthcare competitiveness.
Houston City College’s participation highlighted the institution’s role in workforce development and its commitment to preparing students for high-demand careers, particularly in healthcare, one of the region’s most critical industries. HCC’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Healthcare Management equips students with skills in operations, leadership, and health systems, preparing them for career advancement and entry-level management roles. This effort is strengthened by HCC’s Coleman College for Health Sciences. Located within the Texas Medical Center, the campus positions HCC at the center of one of the world’s leading healthcare hubs, offering more than 20 healthcare programs, including Anesthesia Technology, Dental Hygiene, Histologic Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology and Nursing, among others, directly aligning education with industry needs.
Dr. Ford Fisher’s participation in the Future of Healthcare program reflects Houston City College’s ongoing engagement with industry leaders and its dedication to helping shape the future of healthcare in Houston.
