About the Gulf Coast TradeUP Careers Initiative
Talent Starts Here.
Gulf Coast TradeUp Careers is a regional workforce initiative designed to expand access to high-demand skilled trades careers through apprenticeship, technical training, and employer-led workforce development.
$17 Million Gulf Coast Expansion
Expanding apprenticeship pathways, workforce infrastructure, employer engagement, and student access across the Gulf Coast region.
Supported through the Bloomberg Philanthropies Skilled Trades Initiative, the initiative connects employers, education, workforce organizations, and community partners to build a scalable workforce ecosystem aligned to Gulf Coast economic growth. Lead partners of this initiative are HCC Gulf Coast Region Apprenticeship Hub, Greater Houston Partnership, Good Reason Houston, Bridge Year, HISD and Alief ISD.
As industries across construction, manufacturing, energy, transportation, and infrastructure face increasing workforce shortages, Gulf Coast TradeUp Careers helps students access paid career pathways while supporting employers with sustainable talent pipelines.
Through pre-apprenticeship programs, registered apprenticeships, industry-recognized credentials, and work-based learning opportunities, students can explore careers, earn while they learn, and transition into family-sustaining careers.
