The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) promotes democratic participation at Houston City College by inspiring students, faculty, staff, and the broader community to become informed, active contributors to civic life. Through events, transformative learning experiences, faculty and community partnerships, the CCE strengthens civic knowledge and fosters the skills essential for meaningful engagement. From voter education and public dialogue to innovative curriculum development, the CCE serves as a catalyst for building a more connected, empowered, and civically engaged community.
Programs
The CCE hosts a range of events and activities each semester that are open to HCC students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Some of the CCE’s regular programming includes:
- Constitution Day
- National Voter Education Week
- Media and Information Literacy Week
- Civic Leadership opportunities for HCC students
- “Days of Service” opportunities for HCC students
- The Leadership and No-Blame Problem Solving Course offered online through HCC’s Community Learning Program.
