The Fire Science and Safety program at Houston City College supports the growing national demand for college-educated fire service professionals. The Heavy Vehicle, Diesel, and Industrial Technology program at Houston City College prepares students for entry-level careers in Texas’s growing heavy equipment and diesel industries. Students receive hands-on training in diesel engine repair, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance for commercial trucks, buses, industrial machinery, and other heavy-duty vehicles. In addition, we offers specialized training in truck driving and forklift operation, providing students with a well-rounded foundation for careers in the transportation and industrial sectors.

The Logistics and Global Supply Chain Management certificate equips students with the technical skills needed for entry-level positions in transportation, warehousing, inventory, and global supply operations.

The program prepares students for entry-level positions in machine shops, manufacturing facilities, and industrial plant maintenance. Students gain hands-on training in machinery, equipment operation, and workplace safety to support a variety of manufacturing and maintenance careers.

The Medical Laboratory Technician Program prepares students for vital roles in healthcare by training them to perform laboratory tests that support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Through hands-on laboratory experience and rigorous coursework, students develop skills in clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and laboratory safety, leading to careers in hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic laboratories or continued education in the clinical sciences.

The Paralegal Technology program at Houston City College prepares students to support attorneys, courts, and legal organizations through research, document drafting, investigation, and administrative case management. Coursework covers legal research, pleadings, law office procedures, courthouse processes, and specialized areas of law, equipping graduates with the skills needed for entry-level paralegal roles.

The CAPM/PMP Exam Prep program area equips students with a comprehensive understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices aligned with the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications. The course prepares students by covering essential exam content and building the knowledge needed to confidently pursue industry-recognized project management credentials.

The Process Technology program at Houston City College provides high-quality education and hands-on training that prepares a diverse student body for career advancement in the process industries. The curriculum equips students with the technical knowledge, safety awareness, and operational skills needed to work effectively in refining, petrochemical, power generation, and manufacturing environments.

The Project Management Basics Certificate program provides students with an overview of the essential elements of project management and the project management life cycle. Students learn the stages of project selection, planning, managing, and controlling, along with key frameworks, practices, and techniques used in the field. Upon successful completion, participants receive a digital badge from HCC recognizing their achievement.

The Public Safety Telecommunicator – 911 Dispatcher program prepares students for careers in emergency communications and public safety support services. Students receive academic instruction and hands-on training in radio operations, emergency call-taking, dispatch procedures, incident documentation, and communication skills for Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS agencies. Approved by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), the program prepares students for the Basic Telecommunicator Licensing Exam and entry-level employment in emergency dispatching and public safety communications.

The Introduction to Python Programming program area provides students with a foundational understanding of Python programming, including design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation of software applications. Students learn core programming concepts and apply them to create, test, and document functional programs.

Students in the two-year Radiography Program at Houston City College learn through classroom instruction and hands-on training in state-of-the-art labs at the Coleman Health Science Center. The program builds the technical, clinical, and patient-care skills needed for entry into the radiologic technology profession.

The Real Estate Sales Agent Licensure program area is designed to meet the educational requirements set by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) for obtaining a sales agent license. The program provides comprehensive 30-hour courses in real estate principles and practices, preparing students to submit licensing documentation to TREC and pursue a career in real estate upon completion.
