Electrical Technician

The Electrical Technician program prepares students for employment in the electrical industry through hands-on and classroom instruction in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems. Students develop skills in electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, industrial automation, and fiber optic systems while learning industry safety standards and practices. The program provides the technical knowledge needed to pursue careers in a growing and high-demand field.

Education track: Continuing Education

This training program provides the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience required for a long-term career to be an electrician. Electricians install electrical systems in structures; including installation of wiring and other electrical components, such as circuit breaker panels, switches, and light fixtures, and they follow blueprints, the National Electrical CodeĀ® and state and local codes.

The Electrical Technician I & II courses are designed to train students to be an entry-level electrician. This are of study prepares students for entry-level electrician positions, including residential wiring, as well as commercial/ industrial applications. Industrial Electricity courses includes specialized courses where students work on equipment used in industry.

Prerequisite - HS Diploma/GED

Supplies - Students are responsible for the purchase of their textbooks and tools.
