Houston Reconnect

A scholarship to give adults a chance to complete a certificate or degree.

The Houston Reconnect scholarship program that provides financial support to students who started a degree or certificate and now want to complete or start a new program. After all, with a college certificate or degree, you can earn more, get the promotion you’ve been wanting, take on higher levels of responsibility, and more. HCC can help you get there!

Who is Eligible?

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and maintain a 2.0 GPA throughout participation in the scholarship program.
  • Meet Texas Residency requirements.
  • Must be a degree seeking student.
  • Have an outstanding balance less than $500 at Houston City College.
  • Have previously earned credit hours at Houston City College.
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
  • Have successfully submitted a FAFSA or TASFA application for the current academic year.

What Can Students Expect?

A second chance at college is as easy as 1-2-3-Go!

  1. Complete an interest form

    Use this link to complete our Reconnect Interest Form. After completing, you will receive an email with instructions on how to apply for readmission to HCC and complete the Federal Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA).

  2. Attend an onboarding session and meet with our Reconnect Program Coordinators

    Onboarding sessions are both virtual and in-person, offered at different locations and various times. Here you will learn more about the program and your responsibilities.

  3. Accept Our Follow-up Calls

    An Advisor will contact you about selecting courses that will help you complete your certificate or associate degree and help you with registration.

Which Students will Receive Funding?

HCC will give priority to students seeking:

  • Short-term credentials that can be completed in one year or less
  • Associate degrees that can be completed in less than 4 semesters
