Six HCC students have been named 2026 World Impact Scholars by Phi Theta Kappa, earning $2,500 scholarships in recognition of their academic achievement and commitment to community impact.
Six Houston City College (HCC) students have been named 2026 World Impact Scholars by Phi Theta Kappa, earning $2,500 scholarships in recognition of their academic achievement and commitment to community impact.
The honorees are Temitope Alabi, Dazshia Hayes, Mamie Mehta, Afolake Ola, Sandra Perez Rueda and Aaliyah Phillips. The students were recognized by the HCC Board of Trustees at its May 20, 2026 meeting.
The students were selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants nationwide, recognized for aligning their education and career goals with real workforce needs in their communities.
The World Impact Scholars program is supported by Coca-Cola North America and reflects a shared investment in student success and workforce development. Phi Theta Kappa leaders said the scholarship highlights the critical role community colleges play in preparing students to contribute meaningfully to local economies.
College officials praised the students’ achievement, noting their selection underscores Houston City College’s commitment to expanding opportunity and developing talent that strengthens the region.
