Chancellor Margaret Ford Fisher receives Lifetime Achievement Award from the Houston Business Journal
The Houston Business Journal has named HCC Chancellor Margaret Ford Fisher, Ed.D., as the Lifetime Achievement Award winner in its 2026 Women Who Mean Business Awards.

The Houston Business Journal has named HCC Chancellor Margaret Ford Fisher, Ed.D., as the Lifetime Achievement Award winner in its 2026 Women Who Mean Business Awards.
The magazine made its announcement May 18, 2026.
In 2024, Ford Fisher became the ninth chancellor of Houston City College, overseeing a seven-college organization that serves nearly 100,000 students each year across 22 locations throughout Greater Houston.
Since joining HCC in 1985, Ford Fisher has built a career defined by expanding access to education and creating new pathways for students. She was the inaugural president of HCC Online College, where her leadership helped establish more than 60 fully online degrees and 70 hybrid programs, and she previously served 20 years as president of HCC Northeast College.
Her impact also extends well beyond any campus. Ford Fisher is a lifelong advocate for education locally, nationally, and internationally, with board service that includes the Greater Houston Partnership, the Texas Association of Community Colleges, the Global Community College Leadership Network and the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
Ford Fisher has received numerous honors for her leadership and service, including being named one of Houston Woman Magazine’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2023 and one of D-Mars’ Top 30 Influential Women of Houston. She also has won the Latino Learning Center’s Humanitarian Award and the World Affairs Council’s Jesse Jones Award for Global Education &Institutional Leadership.
Ford Fisher earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wichita State University and a Doctor of Education from the University of Houston.
