The Associate in Science is intended primarily for students planning on transferring to a senior college or university to receive a baccalaureate degree in the following areas: computer science, engineering, health and natural sciences, or mathematics.

The Transportation Center of Excellence’s Aviation Maintenance Technology Program provides high-tech, hands-on training using industry-standard equipment, modern instructional methods, and aviation-focused technologies. Designed to support the growing demand for skilled aircraft maintenance professionals, the program prepares students to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain aircraft systems in accordance with industry expectations and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards.

The Biology program at Houston City College introduces students to life at every level - from microbes to plants, animals, and the human body. Courses are offered in person and online. Coursework includes General Biology I and II (for science and non-science majors), Microbiology (for science and non-science majors), Anatomy and Physiology, Zoology, Botany, Nutrition, Genetics, and Introductory biotechnology.

The Biotechnology Program provides students with a solid foundation in the science and laboratory skills that drive modern medicine, healthcare research, and the biotechnology industry. Students progress through a structured curriculum, from introductory biology through advanced courses in molecular biology techniques, cell culture, laboratory instrumentation, biomanufacturing, and quality assurance. The program culminates in either an internship or a capstone experience, giving students the opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world setting before entering the workforce. Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions such as Research Associate, Laboratory Technician, Manufacturing Technician, and Medical Technologist, or to continue their education in health and science-related fields.

The Business program at Houston City College prepares students for success in today’s global economy through active, real-world learning with faculty and industry partners. With strong job demand for graduates holding an associate degree in business, students can pursue AA and AAS pathways as well as certificates in multiple specializations.

The Chemistry program at Houston City College provides a strong foundation in chemical principles, laboratory techniques, and scientific analysis. Students gain hands-on experience while exploring topics such as chemical reactions, molecular structure, and the role of chemistry in everyday life and industry.

Computer Systems Networking is a rapidly growing field as businesses increasingly depend on remote communication, cloud services, and wireless technologies. The program at Houston City College prepares students with the skills needed to build, manage, and secure modern network systems.

The Criminal Justice program or Police Academy at Houston CIty College consists of the AA transfer plan for Criminal Justice, the AAS in Criminal Justice with concentrations in law enforcement, corrections, or juvenile justice, and the following certificate: Basic Peace Officer Licensing. Texas requires a four-year degree to qualify as a probation officer or protective service worker. Students must be 21 or older to enter the police academy.

The Associate of Arts in Dance at Houston City College prepares students for dance careers or transfer to four-year programs. Students develop technique in African, ballet, jazz, and modern dance; study choreography; and gain performance experience in a supportive environment led by professional faculty and guest artists. The program is committed to developing well-rounded, culturally diverse, and thoughtful dancers.

The Digital Communication programs at Houston City College prepare students to create and produce visual content across today’s digital media landscape. Students develop skills in design, photography, writing, editing, and multimedia production for web, social media, mobile, immersive, and print platforms.
