The 2026 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee hosted by Houston City College is open to all public, private, charter, and homeschool students who meet eligibility requirements. The top three spellers of the 2026 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee hosted by Houston City College will progress to Scripps National Spelling Bee to be held in the Washington, D.C. area. Airfare and lodging expenses for each speller and one parent will be covered by the regional bee.

Key Dates:

• 8/19/2025 - School enrollment (spellingbee.com) opens.
• 1/30/2026 - Final Deadline for Schools to enroll at spellingbee.com ($199 per school).
• 2/4/2026 - Deadline for Schools to conduct school-level spelling bee.
• 2/16/2026 - Deadline for Schools to register school bee champion via spellingbee.com.
• 2/23/2026-3/4/2026 - Regional Qualifier Online (spellingbee.com account) Test (RQOT) window (50 items: spelling & word meanings).
• 3/4/2026 Deadline to conduct District/County/Area spelling bees. 
• 3/4/2026 Deadline to register District, County, or Area Bee champions (Registration Link for 2026 Scripts Regional Spelling Bee @ HCC)
• 3/28/2026 - 2026 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee hosted by Houston City College West Houston Institute, 2811 Hayes Rd, Houston, TX 77082.
