TECH Resources

Free Parking Lot Wifi + Discount Home Wifi

Free HCC Outdoor/Parking Lot Wifi

HCC now offers free outdoor/parking lot Wi-Fi zones for our students and prospective/future students to connect to the Internet. Visit www.hccs.edu/outdoorwifi to view locations and how to access them. 


 

Discount Home Wifi
Many companies are continuing their community service commitments to assist existing customers by waiving late fees and disallowing service disruptions due to economic circumstances related to the coronavirus pandemic.  These companies are likewise offering technology resource options to students. Several of them are offering varying sources of free or reduced-cost Wi-Fi options to new or existing customers for designated periods of time. Please check out all of the options below to choose what works best for you.

Discount Computers

Here are some options for students looking for a laptop on a budget:

  • Barnes and Noble, HCC's Bookstore offers a wide variety of desktops, laptops, and accessories
  • Many brands offer student discounts on desktops, laptops, and accessories. To name a few:


Consider refurbished laptops where available. When purchased from a reputable retailer, these are usually in like-new condition and offer great value.

There is a variety of software available that can be used at home for free with your student login/password information.

Tech Support for Eagle Online (Canvas) and Password Reset

If you have technical issues while taking online classes with HCC, please contact the Eagle Online (Canvas) Customer Support via phone at 713-718-5275, option 3, or via the Student Help Form.

If you are having difficulties with your HCC Email account, please contact the Information Technology Customer Support at 713-718-8800 or you can manage your password via the Password Reset Manager.

Cost of Attendance

There are direct educational costs — tuition, fees and book expenses. Also, there are indirect expenses — living, transportation and personal. These direct and indirect costs make up what the Financial Aid Office refers to as the Cost of Attendance

Eagle Promise Program

Through the HCC Eagle Promise Program, qualifying students' tuition, fees, and a book allowance of up to $500 are covered each semester. To stay up to date on deadlines, and learn more about this program, click here

 

Student Loan Debt Options

Prepare to tackle your student loan debt before you enter repayment after graduation. HCC offers a unique resource to students, Financial Aid Coaches. Our coaches are here to help you create a successful financial future. Coaches offer a variety of resources including information on how to tackle your student loan debt, setting up a monthly budget, guidance on locating scholarships and other means to pay for your education, and much more.
