Terminalfour Page Creation Exercise

This exercise will help you practice creating and organizing content in Terminalfour using several common component types, including Hero Sections, Body Sections, Expandables, and Cards.

 

Create Your Own Page Exercise

  1. Open your Section

    In the site structure, please go to the section named "Training Area" expand it and find the section that has been created for you.

  2. Add a Hero

    The first element you will add to your section is a Hero section. In your Training Area test page add a General Hero Section content type.

    Complete the fields using the following information:

    1. Name: Welcome to (your name)’s Test Page
    2. Title: Welcome to (your name)’s Test Page
    3. Description: Enter the date you are completing this exercise.
    4. Image:
      1. Click Insert ->  Insert file link or image
      2. Navigate to: Training Area -> Images -> HCC Logo

    Note: 

    Save as Draft while you are still working on a content type. 
    When you are finished, click Save to submit it to the Web Content Editor’s queue for approval. 
    You can also click the Preview button to see what your component will look like.

  3. Add Body Section

    Next, add a Body section content type to your section.

    Body Content

    Copy the first paragraph from the Houston City College Wikipedia page and paste as text (to remove any existing formatting).

    Add a Callout Block

    • Enable Callout Block 
    • Complete the title, description and button fields. 
      • Button should link to the Houston City College homepage.
  4. Add Expandables

    Add two separate Expandable compenent content types:

    Expandable 1: List of Colleges

    • Set Show Title to Yes. This title will be used as heading for the group expandables.
    • List all seven colleges of Houston City College using either a bulleted or numbered list.

    Expandable 2: Athletics

    Using the Athletics section of the Houston City College Wikipedia page, create a table with the following columns:

    • Sports Type
    • Men
    • Women

    Include all sports listed and indicate whether each sport is offered for men, women, or both.

    In the section page, place both expandables by each other to be grouped together.

  5. Add a Cards Section

    Create three separate cards for three different campus locations.

    For each card: 

    • Add a campus photo to the card from the Media Library > Training Area > Images.
    • Add a description.
    • Link the card to the corresponding campus page.

  6. Finished Section Example

    Once completed, your section should look similar to this.

  7. Submit your Work

    1. Save your changes to submit the content for admin review.
      • If you are still working on the content, select Save as Draft instead.
    2. Once your changes are saved, the content status will be marked as “Pending” and sent to the admin for review.
    3. After the content is reviewed and approved, the admin will grant you access to edit your designated sections.
