Hi! My name is Mary-Ann, and I am a Nigerian international student currently studying Cybersecurity in the United States. I chose Cybersecurity because I am passionate about technology and want to be part of those making an impact, by protecting systems from vulnerable attacks.

I joined the International Student Ambassador program because I understand how challenging it can be to adjust to a new environment and system. I am here to let you know that you are not alone, and you can reach out to me whenever you need guidance or simply someone to talk to.

Outside of school, I love to dance and spend time researching and learning about new things. I look forward to meeting you and being part of your journey!

My name is Angel, and I am currently studying Business Administration. I moved from Colombia to Houston a year ago, so I understand the adjustments and uncertainty that come with adapting to a new country and academic system. As an International Student Ambassador, my objective is to help new students navigate this transition smoothly and get connected with the campus community.

A little about me: I am a collaborative person who enjoys music, sports, and fitness. I’m always open to helping out, so feel free to reach out if you have questions or see me around campus.

My name is Angelina Dominick, but you can call me Dom! I am from Gabon and Cameroon, and I have been an international student since December 2023. I am majoring in Biology, and I am interested in laboratory medicine, research, human health, and patient care. 

It is my pleasure to serve as your International Student Ambassador Leader this academic year. Many of you may already know me from my time as an International Student Ambassador last year. 

I am here to support you and help whenever I can. I hope to make your experience as an international student a little easier. I am excited to continue this journey with all of you, and I look forward to a great year together!  

Hi everyone! My name is Bethelihem Fikre Aklilu, and I’m an International Student Ambassador at Houston City College. I’m originally from Ethiopia, and I’m currently pursuing my education with a goal of becoming a nurse. Outside of academics, I enjoy drawing hyper-realistic portraits and watching anime.

As an international student myself, I understand how exciting but at the same time overwhelming it is to start a new chapter in a new country. For that reason, I hope to help new international students feel welcomed, supported, and connected. I want to share what I’ve learned from my own experience, help students be informed of the resources and opportunities available at HCC, and remind them that they don’t have to do this alone or have everything figured out on day one. I’m excited to meet you all and be part of your HCC experience!

I am Bernal and I was born on July 15th in Mexico. I’m an Honors College student majoring in Government/Political Science and currently serving as an International Student Ambassador. One of my goals is to help people and animals, to make an impact, even if it is a small one. Above all, I believe kindness is one of the most powerful things we can share with everyone. I plan to finish my studies and practice law. 

Outside academics, I enjoy musical theatre, reading books, watching TV shows, learning about history and spending time with my dog Oliver (named after the Green Arrow). I like to think that he is my own version of Krypto from Superman because he is always by my side. 

I know many students may have a difficult time. Like you, I miss my friends but I can assure you that none of you are alone on this path. If you ever have questions or just need someone to talk to, I am here.
