What’s the GED® test like?

The GED® test has been updated to make sure it measures what graduating high school seniors know and what colleges and employers will expect of you.

Four (4) parts:

Science (90 minutes)                                                               

Mathematical Reasoning (115 minutes)

Reasoning through Language Arts (150 minutes)               

Social Studies (70 minutes)


Offered on computer (paper available for accommodations only)

Available in English and Spanish

Take the HiSET - HiSET has been discontinued


The HiSET exams was discontinued in Texas starting September 1, 2021. Therefore, the last day to take any of the HiSET exams was August 31, 2021.  Any tests taken after August 31, 2021 will not be scored.
