Pathways to Success

Houston Guided Pathways to Success (Houston GPS) is a regional consortium of higher-education institutions in partnership with Complete College America that includes all branches of the University of Houston—Main, Downtown, Clear Lake and Victoria—as well as Texas Southern University, Lone Star College, San Jacinto College, Wharton College, Victoria College, and Houston Community College. The goal of Houston GPS is to increase college completion across the greater Houston region. To achieve this, consortium partners are working to ensure that students are able to seamlessly transfer to participating four-year institutions from two-year colleges without loss of credit and with junior standing in the major. Additional information can be found at the University of Houston host site.

Texas Pathways serves as an upstream companion to Houston GPS by identifying and developing clearly mapped pathways from high school to college and career. HCC is one of 12 two-year colleges from across the state leading this work in support of the Texas Higher Education Strategic Plan, 60X30TX, which calls for at least 60 percent of Texans ages 25 to 34 to have a certificate or degree by 2030. Additional information is available from the Texas Success Center.

A strategically aligned initiative just underway is Gateways to Completion (G2C). Designed to create and implement an evidence-based plan for improving teaching, learning and success in historically high-failure rate courses, G2C is a cohort-based, faculty-led planning and assessment process for institutional improvement. For additional information, please visit the G2C website.
