International Transcripts

International Transcripts

If your undergraduate or graduate degree is from a university or college outside of the United States, your transcripts must be evaluated by a credential evaluation service. Evaluations must include the educational degree equivalencies, overall and last 60 semester hour grade point average, course-by-course analysis, and divisional course analysis (if teaching in grades 7-12). A “teacher certification” evaluation is preferred.

Also please note that if your undergraduate or graduate degree is from an institution of higher education in which the primary language of instruction is not English, you must submit passing scores from the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) internet-based (iBT) exam. Passing scores for internet-based (iBT) – 79, with a required score of 26 on the Speaking portion. For additional information on the TOEFL exam, visit ets.org/toefl. HCC’s destination code (DI) is 6296.

If your undergraduate or graduate degree is from an institution of higher education in which the primary language of instruction is English, you must provide a letter on university letterhead stating the primary language of instruction at the university is English. If this letter is provided and the primary language of instruction is English, then TOEFL scores are not required.

If you have completed both an undergraduate or graduate degree outside of the United States and completed an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the United States, TOEFL scores are not required; however, the degree completed outside of the United States must still be evaluated by a credential evaluation service.
