Logistics & Material Handling

About the program
The Logistics & Material Handling program at Houston Community College is a 66-hour fast-track training program that prepares for employment in materials handling, warehousing, production, logistics, and port terminals industries. During the two week program student’s focus on Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) Certified Logistics Technician Certification, product receiving, storage, order processing, packaging and shipment, inventory control, evaluation of transportation modes and dispatch and tracking. Students receive classroom and hands-on training for counterbalanced electric motor and internal combustion engine forklifts. Another component of the program covers Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards, an overview of hazard recognition, and tips on preventing injuries while on the job.
