Changes to Fall registration

(Note: The message below was also sent to your email.)
Dear HCC Eagles,

As you know, HCC is currently working to make modifications to our Fall schedule so we can provide safe, flexible options for our students and faculty. We call these new course delivery options nextLearning. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our video to learn more.

As a student that took advantage of registering for your Fall classes early, we want to reach out to you specifically about some changes we had to make that will impact you. In order to adjust our Fall schedule to these new, safe options, we had to cancel some classes and adjust the delivery option for others.

We understand these changes will impact some of the decisions you’ve made, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We would like to make it up to you by offering you priority registration to access the updated schedule and make any adjustments to your Fall courses before the schedule goes live for everyone.

Your priority registration will begin Sunday, June 14 at 12:01 am and close Monday, June 15 at 11:59 pm. Should you wish to make any changes to your Fall enrollment selections or add new classes because some of your previous classes had to be cancelled, we encourage you to do that during this priority window.

To help you understand the new nextLearning options, we’ve provided a brief summary of each below.

Thank you!

nextLearning – Safe, flexible learning options for Fall 2020

Online Anytime – Students can take classes online at any time. These are traditional online classes and students never come to campus. Look for the code WW when reviewing the updated schedule.

Online on a Schedule – Students can take classes online at the scheduled class time that they select when enrolling. Students never come to campus, but log into their class on the scheduled dates and times using our learning management system (Canvas). Look for the code WS when reviewing the updated schedule.

Flex Campus – Students enroll in classes and have the choice to attend either online or in person at the scheduled dates and times. We are working on a system to ensure all students have the opportunity to participate in person at times if they want. When a student isn’t attending in person, they are required to participate at the scheduled time online. Look for the code FC when reviewing the updated schedule.

Lab-Based Courses – We will continue to offer our skills-based, hands-on lab courses but with smaller section sizes to enable social distancing. We have added additional lab sections to the schedule to make up for the smaller sizes. Look for the code HL when reviewing the updated schedule.
