Hurricane Harvey Recovery Grant

Need assistance in furthering your education but was affected by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey? There may be a solution for you. 

The Hurricane Harvey Recovery Grant will provide assistance to qualifying students who were affected by the storm. The grant is designed to help prospective and current students either get or stay enrolled at HCC by helping to cover tuition, fees, books, transportation, housing, and/or childcare assistance.

Below, you will find details on signing up for a virtual session to learn more about the Hurricane Harvey Recovery Grant, eligibility requirements, and documents needed to assist your application process.

Wednesday, July 22, 2020.

Time Slots:

  • 10 AM (morning session) and/or
  • 4 PM (afternoon session).

 

 

What You'll Need Before Harvey Virtual Session

To be prepared for the Hurricane Harvey Recovery Grant Virtual Session, it is recommended that you:

  • Complete the FAFSA application before attending a virtual session. Visit  or www.fafsa.gov/ to complete the application. *Please note, use your 2017 tax information for the 19/20 FAFSA application and your 2018 tax information for the 20/21 FAFSA application.
  • Make sure you're enrolled at HCC. 

 

 

Eligibility Requirements

Hurricane Harvey Recovery Grant Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a US Citizen or eligible non-citizen.

  • Submit the 19-20 or 20-21 FAFSA Application.

  • Be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours.

  • Have documentation that outlines damages or losses caused by Hurricane Harvey.
    • This includes FEMA, Insurance Claim, Red Cross, and Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) Documentation. Other documentation will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you aren’t sure what documentation to submit, please email a financial coach at hcc.specialgrants@hccs.edu

  • Have documentation that shows you resided in one of the 54 counties affected by Hurricane Harvey. 
    • Copy of your lease, utility bill or mortgage statement that shows you (the student) resided in one of the areas designated by FEMA as a Disaster Declaration County impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
    • If your name is not on the lease or bill because you live(d) with a parent, please also upload a copy of your birth certificate.

How to Apply for Harvey Grant

  • Submit an application (click to complete application)
    • Attach all requested information and supporting documentation.


Once you submit an application, you will receive an email to confirm we received it. Within seven business days, a Financial Coach will review your application and reach out.

How to Setup Refund Account

If your Harvey Application was approved, the funds will be disbursed through Bankmobile.

To set up your account with Bankmobile account

  1. Login to your MyEagle account by visiting https://myeagle.hccs.edu/ and select the black "Student Sign-In" icon.
  2. Find and click the "Student Center" icon
  3. Next, click the Choose A Refund Option link to make your Refund Preference Selection.
