Program Information

General Requirements

These three International Business programs prepare students to take the NASBITE Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) exam. The NASBITE Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) certification confirms knowledge in international trade and assures that employees are able to practice global business at the professional level required in today’s competitive environment. It certifies that a candidate is competent in the following four primary domains: Global Business Management, Global Marketing, Supply Chain Management and Trade Finance. The credential also helps individuals diversify their skills in global commerce and assure they understand a broad range of topics rather than just a specific field within international trade that they might have experienced.

In addition, please note that a student may only earn one Marketable Skills Achievement Award (MSA) per academic year.

TSI testing required prior to first enrollment for all AAS degrees and Level II certificates.

Program Outcomes

Students will be able to:

• Identify global issues and trends impacting global business and operations.
• Identify external global environmental factors (socio-cultural, economic, legal, political and technological) and international trade management issues within global operations
• Employ various sources of international business research (including government, private and non-profit or non-governmental sources) for strategic decision-making
• Evaluate export and import management operations and/or policies necessary in international trade.

(CGBP) Credential

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is increasingly focused on “skills-based standards” and/or industry certifications. The NASBITE Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP)credential confirms knowledge in international trade and assures that employees are able to practice global business at the professional level required in today’s competitive environment. The NASBITE CGBP certifies that a candidate is competent in the following four primary domains: Global Business Management, Global Marketing, Supply Chain Management, and  Trade Finance. To receive the NASBITE CGBP designation, a candidate must pass the CGBP exam and have completed either two-years of college-level study, or have worked in global commerce for two years.
