AVANCE-Houston

AVANCE-Houston in collaboration with Houston Community College (HCC) is offering General Office Support Specialist (GOSS) training at its AVANCE Workforce Center located at 4625 North Freeway Ste. #301, Houston, Texas 77002.

The GOSS program provides students with 192 hours of instruction and takes around three months to complete. Students learn keyboarding skills, Internet usage, Microsoft Office Suite and are prepared to find employment as administrative assistants in a modern office setting. They also learn telephone etiquette, customer service practices, and professional communication skills.

All training is delivered by qualified HCC faculty.

Students will also be enrolled in 80-100 hrs of contextualized basic skills or English language support classes to improve their performance and course success.

While the classes themselves are free, students may pay a modest registration fee. Some waivers apply.

This program provides students with 200 hours of instruction and takes around three months to complete. Students are prepared to pass the CompTIA A+ and Network+ certification exams and find employment as Help Desk Specialists, Desktop Computer technicians and Network Administrators.

All ISS training is delivered by qualified HCC faculty.

Students will also be enrolled in 80-100 hours of contextualized basic skills or English language support classes to improve their performance and program success.

While the classes themselves are free, students may pay a modest registration fee, waivers are available in some cases.

The Alliance for Multicultural Community Services (ALLIANCE) in collaboration with Houston Community College (HCC) is offering Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) training at the ALLIANCE headquarters located at 6440 Hillcroft St. Houston, Texas 77081.

This program provides students with 144 hours of instruction and takes around three months to complete. Students are prepared to find employment as entry level computer design technicians.

All CADD training is delivered by qualified HCC faculty.

Students will also be enrolled in 80-100 hrs of contextualized basic skills or English language support classes to improve their performance and program success.

The Chinese Community Center (CCC) in collaboration with Houston Community College (HCC) is offering Internet Support Specialist (ISS) training and Medical Business Office Professional (MBOP) training at the CCC headquarters located at 9800 Town Park, Houston, Texas 77036

SER Jobs for Progress

SER Jobs for Progress (SER) in collaboration with Houston Community College (HCC) is offering Welding Technician (WELD) training at the SER Welding Lab located at 1000 Wayside Houston, TX 77011.

This program provides students with 160 hours of instruction and takes around three months to complete. The industry recognized certification course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills for an entry level welder. Topics covered include welding safety, oxy-fuel cutting, base metal preparation, weld quality, shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) - equipment and setup; SMAW—electrodes and selection, beads and fillet welds, groove welds with backing, open V-groove welds, and open-root pipe welds, and joint fit-up and alignment.

All WELD training is delivered by qualified HCC faculty.

Wesley Community Service (Wesley) in collaboration with Houston Community College (HCC) is offering Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) training for its clients. The CNA training itself will be held at a selected HCC campus.

The CNA program provides students with 108 hours of instruction and takes around two months to complete. Students are prepared to take the state CNA examination and find employment in health care industry. This fast-track program provides students with the skills and knowledge to find employment in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and in home-healthcare settings.

All training programs are delivered by qualified HCC faculty.
