Oct 21, 2011

Dr. Mary S. Spangler, HCC chancellor,  addressed the impact HCC is having on the citizens of the Greater Houston area, the city and its economy. HCC continues to transform the expectations of education for the region.

Through innovative programs, partnerships with local and international interests and an entrepreneurial spirit, HCC enriches the region with record numbers of qualified and highly-educated students.

HCC’s graduates contribute to the social and economic well-being of our communities. HCC students benefit from improved lifestyles and increased earnings. The community benefits from increased job and investment opportunities, higher business revenues and the economic contribution of HCC’s students and alumni.

HCC prepares students for the technological challenges and changes of the future. The jobs in the fastest-growing and highest-paying segments of the new economy require education or technical training beyond high school. The demand for highly-skilled and highly-educated workers will only increase in the future. In today’s economy and that of the future, access to post-secondary education and training is essential for individual career success.
