July 14 public hearing
Amber Jones
“Hello, I’m Amber Jones, and I’m a graduate of Smiley class of 2007. I graduated with 12 hours through the dual-credit program, as well I was fortunate enough to get a scholarship to the HCC Honors College at Central. So HCC has really been a blessing to me. I graduated in May with an Associate in Arts degree, and I’m going to Stephen F. Austin in the fall, and I also got a little scholarship from them as well. And I’d also like to thank HCC.”
Albert Coleman “I want to encourage people to support HCC. We’ve been deprived for so long and this is one thing we should do: commit ourselves and try to get HCC in this community because our students need it.”
Maxine Lane-Seals “We don’t have to move from this community. We can stay here because our community is going to be educated enough. We can have doctors, lawyers, engineers, everything right out here in the North Forest community.”
State Senator Mario Gallegos “First of all, especially for the North Forest community, I support this annexation, and I represent about 40 to 45 percent of the North Forest Independent School District.”
Gail O’Neil “Even though educational (tuition and fees) are high, think about paying for ignorance.”
