The Transportation cluster consists of four program areas which instruct students in the knowledge and skills necessary to assume a variety of entry-level positions in the transportation industry. Additionally, the nature of the programs helps students understand and prepare for entrepreneurial opportunities. The cluster consists of both degree and certificate programs. The rapid pace of technological change in the automotive industry requires that the Automotive Technician of today receive quality instruction to stay abreast of the constantly changing demands of the industry. The technician will be required to analyze high-tech electronic and mechanical systems, as well as keeping informed on changing materials and construction techniques used on modern vehicles. Using advanced meters, testing equipment and procedures, the automotive technician must determine what component parts or systems are malfunctioning and make the appropriate repair. Skilled automotive technicians are in great demand and command high salaries for their expertise. Students are required to purchase tools and books. Steps to Registration
Contact front office at 713-718-8100 with questions.
- Complete and submit an HCC admissions application. May be done online from any computer or at the HCC Welcome Center, 401 Northline Mall, Room 106.
- Submit all necessary paperwork for financial aid assistance if aid is desired. Recommended site: www.fafsa.ed.gov. (Remember your registration PIN.)
- Select your appropriate classes from the HCC Class Schedule or by visiting the campus at 4638 Airline Drive.
- Self-register online or in-person at 4638 Airline Drive.
- Pay tuition and fees the same week of registration.
- Receive and safeguard receipt for payment. Receipt must be presented the first day of class to instructor to be allowed into class.
