Deferred Attendance Request

If you are unable to obtain the F-1 student visa, or, for any other reason, are unable to report
on time for the semester you initially applied for and wish to defer your attendance to the
next available semester, you must submit a deferred attendance request in order to
process a new SEVIS I-20 Form for the next term.

Please prepare the following documentation and submit the application to

Office of International Student Services (OISS)
Houston Community College

3100 Main Street, 11th Floor, MC 1138
Houston, Texas 77002

1.  Complete the Deferred Attendance Request Form
2.  Submit a deferment fee of U.S. $50.00

The preferred payment method is an online payment using a credit card.

Please review this tutorial on how to make the online payment.
You must print the receipt at the end of the transaction and submit it as
proof of payment with your application.

Alternatively, money orders payable to Houston Community College
can be mailed to OISS or submitted in person at the HCC cashier office.

3.  Submit proof of financial support. If the financial documents already on record
with HCC were issued less than six months ago, no new financial documentation
        is required.
Otherwise, the deferred attendance request must be submitted
        with new financial documents.

These documents will not be returned. Therefore, the student must be prepared to
submit a second original set to the U.S. Embassy at the time of the visa interview.

 _________________________________________________________________________

Please allow 10 business days for processing. The SEVIS I-20 Form will be released
per the student's instruction issued on the SEVIS I-20 Application Form (#5).
If you elect to have the SEVIS I-20 Form mailed, please be advised that ALL mail
is sent by regular (unregistered) U.S. Post; therefore, please allow for standard mailing time.

It is strongly recommended that all deferred attendance requests are received
no later than 30 days past the initial program start date. Please be advised that all
initial SEVIS records are automatically cancelled 60 days past the program start date.
If a deferred attendance is processed after these 60 days, the student will have to pay the
SEVIS I-901 fee again. In order to avoid this duplicate payment, please submit your
request for deferred attendance as soon as you become aware that you are unable to report
on time to Houston Community College.

We would like to thank you once again for your interest in Houston Community College.
You have made an excellent choice of colleges to further your education, and we look
forward to serving you and your educational needs
