Iron Workers
Iron Workers
The Iron Workers provide qualified skilled craftsmen to fabricate and erect steel for all types of requirements. Traditionally they are thought of as erecting Structural Steel for high rise building as seen in many well know photographs. They also provide labor for the placement of embedded steel needed for the reinforcement of concrete, labor for the placement of anchor bolts, labor for ornamental steel providing unique design features in structures, labor for the glazier steel for support of glass, and labor for all other supporting facilities produced by metal structures such as rail systems, lighting structures, electrical transmission towers and special enclosure structures to name only a few.
In support of this work, iron workers also provide such services as assembly of lifting cranes, stiff legs, tower cranes, unloading materials for their work, fabrication of steel, plus many other supporting activities.
Iron Workers provide all installations in accordance with the American Institute of Steel Constructors (AISC) guidelines for the Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steel, American Concrete Institute (ACI) guideline for the installation of structural steel in concrete, and all other applicable codes for their work.
Description of their Apprentice Program
Iron Workers have a three year apprenticeship training program registered with the Department of Labor required before their workers become journeyman for their craft. In that training program they include all applicable OSHA safety training programs, procedures and practices in the erection process of steels, training in welding procedures for carbon steel metal plus alloy metals and fabrication for steel members.
