Requirements for Taking GED Tests
- Social Security card or a legal document with the Social Security
number printed on the document.
- Must be a Texas resident (no time limit) or a member of the U.S. armed forces stationed in the U.S.
- Must not have received a high school diploma from an accredited secondary school.
- Must be 18 years old to register on your own; if under 18, contact the GED office for specific requirements.
- Acceptable picture identification.
Graduates of a foreign, domestic or accredited high school are permitted
to take the GED.
Note:It is unlawful to present false identification documents in order to test. The Texas Department of Public Safety and/or the U.S. Office of Immigration and Naturalization will be notified of a suspected violation or misuse of documents used for identification.
