How To Receive Accommodations
- Apply to HCC. Please print your application and congratulations letter. Bring this with you when you first visit admissions and the general counselors at the campus of your choice.
- Take your official transcript to the general counseling office. Have a copy of your transcript sent to your home and bring the unopened copy with you when you visit a general counselor. We will break the seal and it will become your official transcript. A general counselor will review your transcript and determine which placement test is appropriate for you.
- Meet with the general counselor for the campus location that is a testing site. Please bring two (2) forms of ID (driver’s license/picture ID and Social Security card, insurance card, etc.) After the test, a general counselor will review your placement test scores and determine appropriate classes for you. Additionally, a general counselor can provide you with a degree plan on request.
- Schedule an appointment with a DSSO counselor at your chosen campus once you have completed your application online, testing, degree plan and course selection. Bring the following documentation to the meeting with your DSSO counselor:
– a copy of your FULL and individual evaluation from your ISD
– a copy of your last ARD meeting
– documents from your physician, psychiatrist, and/or psychologist that indicate your current disability and how it may impact the educational process
- Visit with an ADA counselor each semester. Accommodations are granted on a semester-by- semester basis. You MUST visit with an ADA counselor each semester to obtain a current accommodations letter.
