Student System Requirements

Browsers and Operating Systems

Note: The student system performs best when used with Internet Explorer; however, you may also access the system using the browser and operating system configurations below.

Internet Explorer

    • Internet Explorer 6 for Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP
    • Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP and Windows Vista

Firefox

    • Firefox 2.0 on Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, UNIX, Linux, and Mac OS X

Safari

    • Apple Safari 2.0.4 on Mac OS X

Netscape

    • Netscape 7.x on Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003, UNIX, Linux, and Mac OS, 9, X
    • Netscape 8.1 on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003

Internal Browser Settings

Note: All settings refer to Internet Explorer 6 or higher.

Internet Options

    1. At the top of the browser, click on Tools> Internet Options. In the Temporary Internet Files portion of the Internet Options window, click on the Settings button. Click on Automatically. You should have at least 600 MB in the Amount of disk space to use. Click OK.
    2. Click on the Advanced tab. Scroll down to the HTTP 1.1 settings and click the check box for Use HTTP 1.1 and Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections.
    3. Click on the Privacy tab. The settings should be no higher than Medium. Click OK to complete the process.

Clearing Cookies and Cache

Occasionally, cookies and/or cache become corrupted, which can cause problems with login and viewing the most recent information. Therefore, you should delete cookies and cache periodically.

    1. Click on Tools> Internet Options. Click on the General tab. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click on the Delete Files button. Click on the Delete Cookies button and click OK to the prompt to Delete all cookies in the Temporary Internet File Folder. Click OK to complete the process.
