IMC serves as a faculty and staff instructional technology training resource for all six colleges and the system . Free computer training classes for all faculty and staff are provided at College CICs and in the IMC Training labs at 3100 Main.
IMC provides an updated schedule of computer training classes each semester. Classes include basic Blackboard Vista (HCC's web content management software), Microsoft Office and Faculty Certification in Instructional Technology classes. For more information or to enroll in a class, see Certification in Instructional Technology.
Employee Learning Organizational Development provides PeopleSoft training and professional development classes. For more information or to enroll in a class, see the ELOD web site.
Faculty Certification in Instructional Technology (CIT)
The purpose of the CIT is to prepare faculty to integrate instructional technologies into their teaching practices.
The Faculty Certification in Instructional Technology program was developed and originally funded through Activity 1 of a Title V Grant (1999- 2004). It is now managed by the IMC. Classes are held at the Curriculum Innovation Centers, listed at the bottom of this page, and at the IMC training labs. For more information or to enroll in a class, see Certification in Instructional Technology.
Teaching and Learning Excellence (TLE)
Houston Community College is committed to support students in reaching their educational and career goals. One means of achieving this strategic goal is through innovative methods of course delivery, teaching strategies, and learning methods. The TLE is a faculty professional development program that encourages faculty to further prepare for excellence in their teaching practices in order to support students in achieving their fullest potential. Ultra Online Training
IMC, ELOD, and the ACT Center-Online Continuing Education departments, in collaboration, developed a package of on-line courses designed to meet the training needs for HCC employees, who have not been able to attend technology training courses due to their schedules, and for others who have asked for more advanced courses, which could not previously be addressed.
