A Good Start - Orientation
The primary goal of New Employee Orientation is to welcome the new employee, provide needed information and access to resources, and create a positive first impression that will foster pride in HCC and in the employee\'s daily work. All employees, full-time and part-time, should be oriented.
Organizations that invest in effective orientation or on-boarding enjoy the highest levels of employee engagement and new employees reach full productivity much sooner. A win-win!
New Employee Orientation for Part-time Employees & Adjunct Faculty
HCC employs about 3000 part-time and adjunct faculty per semester. That means plenty of new faces and many familiar ones who are all determined to meet the growing needs of our institution, and most of all, our students. It is important that new employees have access to information to help them manage their new environments and they are knowledgeable of available resources.
To be successful and help with this transition, the Employee Learning & Organization Development department helps to facilitate the orientation process. Orientation, for full-time and part-time employees, is a joint effort between employee, supervisor and HR. The online Part-Time and Adjunct Faculty Orientation helps direct the energy and enthusiasm of new employees and provides answers to general questions about life at HCC.
This self-paced 30-minute learning module, along with the Part-Time & Adjunct Faulty Employee (PTAF) orientation booklet, is designed as a guide to benefits, opportunities, and responsibilities here at HCC. All new part-time employees and adjunct faculty should complete the general and preventing sexual harassment orientations, within the first 30 days of employment.
