Descriptions of Proposed Workshops to be Developed
TL3025 - Foundations of Extended Learning, Programs, Processes, and Practices *
This workshop is a comprehensive workshop designed to provide a framework necessary to create and sustain successful learning opportunities within the Division of Extended Learning. The tools from this workshop will provide assistance in understanding the operating policies, procedures, and philosophies that govern the Division of Extended Learning and, its six departments including Adult Basic Education, Apprenticeship, Corporate College, Corrections Education, the School of Continuing Education, and Operations. This workshop will highlight the Workforce Education Course Manual (WECM), the Guidelines for Instructional Programs in Workforce Education (GIPWE) , operation policies, and fiscal management procedure.
TL3035 - Understanding the Learning Needs of Extended Learning Adult Learners *
This workshop provides theory and best practices for the selection and appropriate use of instructional design strategies in teaching adults in an extended learning context. Importance is placed of implementing and reinforcing literacy, critical thinking skills, and cooperative group learning.
TL3045 – Understanding and Using Data in Extended Learning*
This workshop explores the practice of understanding and using data for workforce and extended learning development. Emphasis will be placed on analyzing data and economic needs in order to develop, implement, and evaluate interventions that address workforce development needs. Workshop topics include foundations of work force education and development, economic issues, providers of work force education, career development of individuals, current approaches to workforce development, and the future of America’s work force and how the Division of Extended Learning can respond to these needs.
