ACHIEVING the DREAM STUDENT SUCCESS PROGRAM

Target Group: all faculty
Curricula: 6 CCSSE benchmark-based workshops and 3 developmental education workshops (at the present; others are being developed)

  • TL1011 - Writing Student Learning Outcomes & Course Objectives
  • TL1071 - Implementing Learning-Centered Teaching for Student Success
  • TL1080 - Rubrics and Measurements
  • TL2005 - Academic Advising, Mentoring, & Tutoring
  • TL2075 - Improving Student Learning Through Active Engagement

Presently, there are 3 developmental education workshops that are required for this certification:

TL1270 – Freshman Success: First Year Experience
The intent of this workshop is to develop an awareness of the importance of a First Year Experience course, to develop strategies for working with student services in a more cohesive and collaborative manner, and to access activities for implementation in the FYE course.

TL3020 - Learning Communities in Community Colleges
This workshop is designed to provide the framework necessary to create and sustain successful learning communities.  The tools from this workshop will provide assistance in developing shared syllabi, shared calendars, and shared activities for your learning community as well as provide techniques for marketing your learning communities.

TL3030 - Classroom Strategies for Developmental English
The intent of this workshop is to enhance faculty knowledge and skill in teaching techniques and strategies related to teaching Developmental English.

TL3050 - Battle of the Book: Combating the Textbook Reading Resistance
This workshop prepares faculty with strategies that can be implemented to increase textbook reading and comprehension among their students.
